haha here's a meaningful story i came across somewhere..
A man and his son were walking in the forest. Suddenly the boy trips and feeling a sharp pain he screams, "Ahhhhh."
Surprised, he hears a voice coming from the mountain, "Ahhhhh!"
Filled with curiousity, he screams: "Who are you?" but the only answer he receives is: "Who are you?"
This makes him angry, so he screams: "You are a coward!" and the voice answers: "You are a coward!"
He looks at his father, asking, "Dad, what is going on?"
"Son," the man replies, "pay attention!" Then he screams, "I admire you!"
The voice answers: "I admire you!"
The father shouts, "You are wonderful!" and the voice answers: "You are wonderful!"
The boy is surprised, but still cant understand what is going on.
Then the fahter explains, "People call this 'ECHO', but truly it is 'LIFE'! Life always give you back what you give out! Life is a mirror of you actions. If you want more love, give more love! If you want more kindness, give more kindness! If you want understanding and respect, give understanding and respect! If you want people to be patient and respectful to you, give patience and respect! This rule of nature applies to every aspect of our lives."

"If we can simple see,
with compassion
all that arises within us,
we dramatically increase
our chances of moving
away from suffering"
i like this quote a lot..came across it in a zen book i was reading..OoOo and another one i think i really true is this
"It is difficult for us to imagine that
someone can
understand what we are saying,
not agree with us,
have another opinion
and still love us."
i used 2 think that way quite sometime ago but awhile back i realised otherwise..
haha another part of the book i like is one where it compares the lives of people to plays..each of us are acting in our own play going by the guidelines given to us by the directors (i.e. our parents/caregivers etc) when we first start out (i.e. when we're kids) and we improvise on it ourselves as we go along..but the thing is what's supposedly 'right' in somebody's play may not necessarily be 'right' in another's because of different directing styles and the different choices we make as 'actors' in our lives..haha...
oh and this is another good one from the book..
"I don't need to justify my feelings nor do
I need to believe them.
I just need to be aware of them
and to accept and embrace them"

haha my parents put this in both my brother's and my room when we moved into our house last year..it's a picture of a little monk in a lotus position looking really calm and peaceful and under it says this
When someone is wronged,
he must put aside
all resentment and say,
"My mind shall not be disturbed;
no angry word shall escape my lips;
I will remain kind and friendly,
with loving thoughts
and no secret spite."
and at that point of time i remember telling my mum "Mum, i know all this" and all she said was "Are u sure?" and in my mind the ans was yes,y wldnt i?it's only in this year that i truly realised how much of a visionary my mum is, at least with regards to her kids cuz this little poem of sorts has kept me going. so thanks mum ^-^
