in the past i always used others as a gauge for my level of political awareness and honestly, next to a lot of people i know i rank quite low in terms of interest and excitement level when it comes to politics.
i know im a pragmatist
largely influenced by my parents i think
but it's not like i don't concern myself with issues
like i largely disapprove of the war in iraq because it was waged on invalid grounds and thus the lives of hundreds of thousands were lost for careless reasons. i feel sad for the people in sudan and sorry for the people in Japan who've had their pension 'lost'. i feel for issues such as women's rights, abuse, discrimination, exploitation etc
but are those more of a social concerns or a political ones?
im not the siao on type who follows parliament and neither am i the type who has viciously strong opinions on stuff like the death penalty or the paternalistic stance that the government stakes so does that make me more moderate than apathetic? sigh.. labels are confounding...
in this case does being politically apathetic = being self-centered then? im confused
maybe ive just developed a resignation towards the fact that life's just like that
haha oh well, i think whatever i am, and whatever i call myself it really doesnt matter cuz (to borrow a cliche) im just being me (which hopefully isnt a bad thing) ^-^
