i thank venerable kuan yuan for her wonderful anecdote.
a lil girl had the opportunity to make a wish so she wished that she would be forever happy. people noticed her sunny disposition and asked her how she managed to stay happy all the time. but she always simply said that it was very easy.
eventually the lil girl grew up, got old but still maintained her close circle of friends.
in their old age they continued to ask her what her secret was.
eventually, she said "It's very simple really. Happiness is derived from how much you give. The more you give, the happier you'll be."
